Biography

Steve Osborn serves as the Student Opportunity Officer for the Rhode Island Department of Education. Steve leads Rhode Island’s efforts to reimagine high school, which has resulted in adopting Readiness-Based Graduation Requirements. Under his leadership, Rhode Island is leading the nation in the growth of students earning a qualifying score on the Advanced Placement exam, has more than doubled the number of college credits earned by high school students through dual enrollment, and more than doubled the number of high school students enrolled in career and technical education programs aligned to high-skill high-growth careers. Steve previously served as the Assistant Superintendent of Student Programs at the Louisiana Department of Education and the Chief Operating Office of the University of New Orleans Charter Schools Network.
