Jai has worked for New York Public Schools for the past eight years. In her current role as Senior Director of Middle School Admissions, Jai is responsible for managing all aspects of New York City’s public school admissions for sixth grade with a focus on improving policies to increase equity, transparency, and trust in the process. Jai started her career as a lawyer, first in private practice, and then moving to public service work, serving as a judicial clerk in both state and federal courts. She started to blend her legal background with a burgeoning interest in education policy while serving as a New York state certified special education mediator before fully moving into the education policy sphere with her work at New York City Public Schools. Jai earned her B.S. in Policy Analysis from Cornell University and her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
