Francesca Marchese Gonzalez

Chicago Public Schools

Biography

Francesca Marchese Gonzalez is a Data Analyst for the Chicago Public School’s Office of Access & Enrollment, a role she has held since 2023. She came to the US as an international student from Guatemala in 2017, with a curiosity to question the way things are and how the world functions. In her role at CPS, she analyzes datasets related to student applications, enrollment, and demographic information to ensure that the GoCPS application process at the District-level runs smoothly. Given that her department handles data from GoCPS applicants, she is focused on evaluating data and looking into the ways in which application processes might affect students from marginalized backgrounds. Therefore, Francesca has evaluated the demographic data collected through the GoCPS application process and provided the Office’s leadership with evidence-based insights on the placement process. Specifically, she has generated reports on the GoCPS application process and the enrollment of students across the District to help inform policies that increase diversity and equity throughout the application process. Francesca earned a Dual Master’s degree in International Relations & Public Policy Studies from the University of Chicago. In her professional and academic work outside of CPS, Francesca has been interested in topics regarding gender & sexuality, immigration studies, critical development studies, and has a focus on international development policy and education policy.
