Kia Scott is the Senior Director of School Choice Services at Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Florida. Her role includes supporting school choice options with the focus on authorizing 41 charter schools, the Home education Program, and managing the state’s Opportunity Scholarship transfer for the district. Kia is an appointed member of the Florida Charter School Appeal Commission and served as a grant evaluator for the Florida Department of Education’s Office of Independent Education and Parental Choice. She is currently the president of the Florida Association of Charter School Authorizers (FACSA). She has been involved in public education for more than 30 years in the traditional system as well as the Dept. of Juvenile Justice and Alternative Education. Kia earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Howard University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She earned her Doctorate in Education Administration at Walden University.
